June 12: President Buhari’s speech on 2022 Democracy Day

ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE OCCASION OF COMMEMORATION AND CELEBRATION OF DEMOCRACY DAY 

Fellow Nigerians, Today, June The 12th, marks another Democracy Day anniversary and an occasion to celebrate freedom and unity of our Nation.


2. From 1999, we consistently celebrated Democracy Day to mark the end of military rule and the return of power and control into the hands of those freely elected by the people. On this day, Nigerians recommit themselves to ensuring we protect and preserve the ideals of democracy.


3. In 2018, we moved Democracy Day from 29th of May to the 12th of June. This change was to remind all Nigerians of one free election after which the presumed winner along with Nigerians were denied their rights and their choice.


4. On June 12th 1993, Nigerians saw the best in our citizens as we all went out to vote peacefully. By June 24th 1993, we also saw the worst of our leadership as the elections were annulled.


5. We must never forget the sacrifices of the heroes of Nigeria’s democracy during 1993. Their patriotism and peaceful struggle should guide our actions especially when it comes to electing our leaders and holding them accountable, now and in future.

Burna Boy shocks fans by revealing his outfit’s cost.

By McFross.  Fans of Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy were outraged after the Grammy winner revealed the price of his costume in an interview.  After being asked to disclose the price tags on his entire wardrobe by a podcaster, Burna offered the breakdown.  He claimed that the eyeglasses he wore were worth $100,000 and the chains he wore were worth $350,000 and $170, respectively. Aside from his Prada shoes, Burna Boy also revealed his Richard Mille timepiece, both of which he purchased for $3,000.   A couple of days ago, there was a controversial statement made against one of the leading and highly respected hip hop artistes in Nigeria Damini Ogulu professionally known as Burna Boy in respect to shooting of gun in a club house.   The woman whose friends were shot at the club has finally shared her part of the story in respect to what happened on that fateful night that still got her traumatized hitherto. At a point in the midnight, she shared that they went to a club with some friends and were there for a couple of hours and were having nice times in the VIP section before Burna Boy and his friends came in.   As the night progressed she pointed to the fact that one of Burna Boy's friends walked up to her with the request that her attention was needed by the hip hop star which she bluntly made it known that she was not interested, with this been complemented that she is married to her partner.
